Story
From a school violin class to The Alibi Sisters
Alibi is a Ukrainian pop duo of two sisters, Anna and Angelina Zavalskaya. They have sung together since they were five. Their songs filled Ukrainian radio and TV in the 2000s, and they came back in 2021 with a new name and a new sound.

Music school
Both sisters study violin at music school in Kyiv.
- 1998
Cappuccino
Until 2000 Anna and Angelina are lead singers of the girl quartet Cappuccino. Anna writes lyrics and Angelina writes music.
- 2000
First singles
Working with composer and producer Dmitry Klimashenko, they release two singles: «Алиби», which gives the group its name, and «На Різдво».
- 2001
Alibi is born
The duo counts 6 April 2001 as its birthday. Their father, Alexander Zavalsky, becomes the producer.
- 2002
«Две слезы»
The debut album comes out, followed by «Да или нет». Hits such as «Да или нет», «С чистого листа», «Табу», «Оригами» and «Ты должен знать» follow over the decade.
- 2000s
On stage and in the community
Alibi takes part in charity campaigns against cancer, supports parents of children with Down syndrome, and performs at children’s-rights events.
- 2012
A pause
Media report the group has split. The sisters dispute that reading. Each works on solo material, and later they focus on their families.
- 2019
Together again on TV
After five years apart on stage, they sing together on the show «Пашина 20-ка».
- 2021
The Alibi Sisters
On the 20th anniversary of their first show, they relaunch as The Alibi Sisters and perform on «Голос країни». The new direction mixes Ukrainian folk and Yiddish songs with modern arrangements, including «Йшла дівчина лучками», a dedication to Kyiv.
- 2026
«Табу» in Ukrainian
On 20 February, 21 years after the original, they release a Ukrainian-language «Табу» with Логай.
